Ebbor Gorge, Somerset
Ebbor Gorge is a limestone gorge owned by the National Trust and administered by Natural England as a national nature reserve. In 1952 it was also designated as a 63.5 hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest – on account of the plant and animal life, and for being surrounded by an excellent example of ancient, calcareous woodland.
You could easily spend a lovely time here wildlife spotting, exploring the woodland and playing in streams. Unfortunately Ebbor Gorge has been affected by ash die back, which means the main path through the valley is shut indefinitely, however there are plenty of other walks in this area.
