Wells City Carnival 2026
One of the biggest nights of the year in Wells returns this November as Wells City Carnival brings its spectacular illuminated procession back to the city.
Part of Somerset’s famous Guy Fawkes Carnival circuit, the Wells event attracts thousands of spectators to see enormous illuminated carnival carts, performers, dancers, musicians and walking entries make their way through the city.
Many of the carts are more than 50 feet long and covered with thousands of lights, moving parts and elaborate sets, making this far more than an ordinary street parade.
Expect Wells to be extremely busy on carnival night. Visitors travelling into the city should allow plenty of time for road closures, parking and finding a place along the route.
ADMISSION: FREE to watch; charitable collections take place during the carnival
THE ROUTE
The procession will set off from Wells Relief Road (Shepton Mallet direction), making its way through Strawberry Way, Tucker Street, Chamberlain Street, Sadler Street, High Street, Broad Street, and Priory Road, before finishing at The Sherston Inn near the Priory Road roundabout.
